Suppressors Alaska NFA Trust Attorney

All I know is there is a guy on this forum that has a website with a template that you can create your own trust for about $150. I DO know you don't have to be a lawyer, but the the document must have the correct verbiage that if you don't know it may take a lawyer to do it.

You don't have to be a lawyer to create your own trust, but you DO have to be a lawyer to create someone else's trust - that is the practice of law in all 50 states. Or 53 states if you ask Obama. That said, creating a simple trust is not difficult, but creating a GOOD trust is. If you only want a trust to avoid CLEO signatures, then a simple trust you create yourself may suffice. If you want the trust to be more robust, to work in other states, to have numerous trustees, to last beyond your death, to death with estate taxes, etc... then you DO need an attorney. It all depends on what you want your trust to do and how long you want it to last. As for me, my trust will last over 500 years so my entire gun collection, including NFA items, will be passed down to my kids, grandkids, and beyond.

As far as trusts not being state specific, that is not exactly true. It IS true that trust law is very similar in most states, but that doesn't mean that it is identical. The real issue though isn't normally the trust law side of things (though it can be), it is the gun law side of things. Gun laws can vary a great deal from state to state, so a GOOD gun trust ought to be designed for the specific state in mind. Most online trusts/templates/forms aren't, sadly. What is legal in one state, saying sharing a gun with a friend, may not be legal in another state.
