thinking about buying one with the 215.00 upgraded shilen barrel that they offer hoping it gets better accuracy.

Is it worth it or save the money for a different barrel later ?

Anyone have any experience with this

Thanks

Re: Alexander Arms 6.5 grendel Barrel question

I've never owned one of their barrels, but have read several post's where guy's have really liked their 5.56 barrels. I don't see why their 6.5's wouldn't be the same.

However, before you pull the trigger and order one from AA, you may want to talk to Hide vendor Scott Milkovich ("Scotmilk9" here in the Hide) and have it built the way you want for a very reasonable price. 6.5's are a specialty of his and he helped me out a ton. He own's/run's Specialized Dynamics.

He's re-designing his website at the moment, but you can shoot him a PM here or...better yet, just give him a call at (480) 751-4074

Good luck,

I have an AA 19.5" AWS without the upgraded bbl and it shoots sub moa after I dropped in a decent two stage trigger. This was with factory hornady ammo.

Re: Alexander Arms 6.5 grendel Barrel question

I love Shilen Barrels but I wouldn't pay for an upgrade of them over AA standard Barrels. My first 6.5G was an AA barrel and it was accurate! My second 6.5G is a Satern, and it is Accurate! If you wanted to pay for the 'best' accuracy I would pay for the Satern. Everything else is very good, his are really great.

I thought I would comment here. You can get sub-MOA from pretty much any 6.5G barrel out there, provided all the other stuff is done right. This is seriously about getting a lot less than that. If that is your standard then I suggest simply going with the AA barrel and see how it shoots.

If it doesn't shoot up to your standards, at least get the pressure/velocity side of your loads worked out. Then when you get some extra cash, buy the better barrel and transfer everything over to it.
