Ok I know nothing about this subject but I’m sure some here do…

Isn’t the hellfire an air-to-ground weapon? Would it even be capable of striking an airborn object in mid-air? Just wondering about this.
No, the missile has quite a few capabilities that are not often used. It got a lot of experimental testing during the GWOt

I would be far more intrigued if the hellfire detonated, and the orb kept going without showing sign of damage, or injury. In this case, it was deflected (apparently), and the missile didn't detonate. You could hit a car with a hellfire, but if the missile doesn't go boom, the car will keep traveling.

I agree. Except that the missile physically contacting the object is worth something. No one can claim this is some sort of weird lens flare or stuff like that. Its a definite flying object.

If I had to guess, it looks to me like some sort of mother-drone carrying baby drones which makes me wonder if its some sort of secret drone swarm platform. Which would make sense because that would mean we just managed to hellfire ourselves.

Edit to add: I love how this couldn't possibly be U.S. technology because these guys sitting before congress swear "We don't have anything like this." Uh huh, right, well that settles it. Just like stealth blackhawks weren't a thing, until we had to ditch one in Osama's yard.

if the hellfire detonated

From the video it looks like the hellfire turned back in the direction the target was moving after passing the target not bounced.

Tightly knit drone swarm that's why some "pieces" separated and still followed.

Probably Amazon delivery drones, my grippy socks will be late now.
