i am looking to build an all round rifle that can be used in fullbore, F class, Hunting
this will be in a .308

the best ideas i have come up with so far are:

28-30 inch bull barrel, bored and tapped muzzle end for a rail for a front sight also Threaded for a muzzle break or barrel tuner depending on the task
xlr industries stock DBM for SA
because of range rules i will be making an insert to work the System as a single shot
Remington action
20 moa rail
badger ordinance rings (50 cal type think they are called max 50)
viper pst 6.5-20X50
an assembly that i can attach a rear sight to for full bore that is picatinni rail compatable
Harris S type 6-9 with pod lock installed

the reason for most of the options is it makes everything modular and everything is customised to the task at hand as im only going to be building one rifle to last me a lifetime the only thing i expect to change out and this is just from wear is the Barrel.

does anybody have any ideas to further add onto what i have here

Re: All Round Rifle

The rifle you describe above works well for F-class but not so much for hunting. If you want a general purpose rifle do this cut the barrel down to 20-22 inches and run the 4-16 vortex scope. The shorter barrel is still plenty capable of getting bullets to the 1000 yard mark while being much more practical in the woods and the 4-16 power scope is better suited for hunting while still being capable for F-class.

Re: All Round Rifle

Good advice! Depending on where and how you hunt, a 28-30" barrel would be a pain in the @ss. The weight reduction would also help.

Re: All Round Rifle

ok kool all it seems i have to look at mainly is the barrel size currently running a stock rem700 sps mounted into a ultimate sniper stock, because its the pencil stick type barrel it heats up real quick thats the reasoning for a thicker barrel just need to weigh up velocity over handling.
