I had tried this earlier in both 308 (175SMK)and 223(77SMK) and the results were not spectacular. I didn't want to burn more powder for the same or less velocity/accuracy result. But Friday I had a quite different experience, as 47.5 gr with the Berger 185 Hybrid gave me results I found hard to believe. My 24" 1 in 10 twist AINA barrel was giving me 2777 FPS average with a SD of 4. I also had three shots in a .0 something hole 100 yards down range. Ambient temp was 88 degrees and humidity was right at 60%. Any one with extensive use of this powder know how it responds with heat/humidity changes? I think I am near max and don't want any surprises down the road.

BTW, I was only experimenting with this powder/bullet combo so that is why there were only three shots. I plan on trying it on a larger scale and at longer distances.

I have shot probably 30 lbs of that powder. I got the best accuracy and the lowest sd around 45.5 to 46.5 grains with Berger 185 OTM in a 30" barrel, F/TR gun. Velocities were 2725 to 2825 ish.

It will produce some impressive velocities. It is quite a bit more temp sensitive than Varget. I would sometimes chase elevation by as much as 1/2 to 3/4 minute from morning to afternoon in an F Class match. I would test that load in the hottest temps you think you will experience. Also, if you are at the top of a node, hotter temps could run you out the top of the node.

The other thing that I noticed was that I seemed to get more unexplained fliers with that powder than with Varget. I can't say this with certainty because I changed some things in my reloading the same time I switched to Varget which could account for this as well. I shot some great scores with that powder and made high master at 600 yds with it.

Thanks for the info. I think I'll go further with testing on this combo but it may be a moot point as I am not sure I will ever find any more to buy.
Varget I have lots of but I really wanted that extra horsepower and accuracy I saw from the 2000MR.

I'm pushing the 185 juggernaut at 2830 fps with 47.0 pp2000 out of a 28" bartlein. It's incredible. Btw. It do a high node for sure.

I started out experimenting with "jugs" but also wanted to try Hybrids. Hybrids have won out for me as they seem to just shoot better in my barrel.
Have you shot it in different temp/humidity zones to see how if it moves around a lot?

The current lot I've got is pretty stable. 40 degree temp swings have only slowed me down 25 to 30 fps. It's pretty stable. A hell of a lot better than Reloader

It was strange that I started working 2000MR back 8 months ago during the height of the powder scare as it seemed to be consistiantly available at my LGS's. Now jump to presant day, powder is ar more plentifull, but I don't see any more 2000MR ? I purchase about 11# several months ago, and had excellent results once I tested and found a great load.

I haven't done any testing with my 308 but with my surgeon 223 I have had great results. great velocity and great accuracy with a little less than 1fps/degree temp change in velocity. However i will not shoot this load when it is 95*+ as I had a heavy bolt lift a few times but that doesn't bother me because I know i'm pushing the cartridge's limits.

    77 smk
    LC 04 brass
    CCI 41 primer
    27g PP 2000MR
    3100 fps out of a 24" bbl @ 70* temp

good luck finding cause I just bought all I could find - more for me , less for you :)
So far its working really well in my 7-08. Getting well over 2900 with 162 amax and 168 bergers.

What length barrel and how many grains. I am shooting 168 Bergers and am getting 2525 FPS with 41.2 grains from a 20 inch barrel. Chrono'd at 72 degrees. Thanks

As far as my load goes (and this is off the top off my head ) from a 26 in barrell I was getting 2900 fps with 45.8 grns 162 amax 85 deg.. My accuracy load is gonna be around 2850 fps with 45 grns. This is out of MY GUN.I WOULD NOT START WITH MORE THAN 43 grns ! If I remember right the data for the 168 vld was a 1/2 grn difference.

    My loads for it were:

    25.8 with a 77SMK at 2.25"
    26 with a 69smk at 2.245
    46.2 in LC brass with a 175smk or 178 BTHP at 2.81
47.5 in winchester commercial same as above

223 loads were in the 2600-2650fps range from an 18", the 308 loads were pushing 2700fps from a 22".

Am doing a workup in 260 with it right now using 140 grain noslers. Started at 40.5 and went to 41.8 top velocity was 2660fps from a 22". I think I can get another .5 grain in there to hit 2700 for the max pressure node.
