I could explain it, but Tres does a much better and more thorough job in this thread.

All I can say is that this method really fricken works. Got my vertical down to 1" at 500 yds using this method. Pretty eye opening stuff.

Re: Alliants 2000-MR

Thanks for the link, I'll have to check it out. It doesn't seem like all that difficult of a procedure. Just from an uneducated eye, it looks like you're testing 46.8 up to 49.1 with a .3gr jump, and you're searching for the tightest connecting pair.
In you're case, the tightest connecting pair was shot 10 and 11 which would make your best load somewhere between 47.7 and 48.

Does that pretty much narrow it down?

after reading the link, I realize my assumption was grossly underestimating the procedure involved, but def something I will be trying shortly.
I've got 3 guns I started reloading for my father than can surely benefit from this method.

Re: Alliants 2000-MR

hmmm, I have always wondered how specific this method can be.

Shot to shot variances induced by the shooter at 500yds can cover any objecitvity to be gleaned from such limited samplings.

...but what to I know, I only work loads up to be consistently sub-moa and mag length with easily available powders and bullets, then I shoot, because I am always the weakest link in my weapon system.

I agree we are the weakest link, but all I can tell you is this method makes total sense to me. And I've been able to devolop more accurate loads this way than ever before. Just give it a try. I generally load to mag length as well BTW.

It's kind of a strange deal. They tout RE-17 as "great in extreme weather conditions". I would think this stuff would have something along those lines. No. All Alliant says about it is the size of the individual pellets helps maximize efficiency of each class of cartridge it's loaded in.
