Hey guys I'm working on some sort of 6.5. Thinking about a .260 at this point, but like the option of the 6.5 Creedmoor's ammo availability.

Anyways. I ordered a 1-8.5 twist Bartlein Rem Varmint 6.5 barrel to finish between 22"-24". Will this work ok? I'm more than likely shooting the longer bullets...

What's your opinions? Cancel the order? I've found a 1-8 twist light palma krieger in stock...I can pick it up today.

8.5" twist has worked great for me in my 24" .260 with everything up to and including 140gr VLDs. Haven't tried anything longer/heavier. I think you'll be fine.

I had the same concern so I ran the numbers and the only conditions I found where an 8.5 twist in a 6.5 wouldn't work with the heavier bullets I wouldn't be outside anyway.

Boots Obermeyer actually prefers 8.75 for a 260 with the 140s.

My 21" 260 with 8.5 twist Bartlein handles the 140 hornady hpbt right nice.
