AMAX and SMK HELP!

I began with 175's and Varget then had to change to 178amax's and RL-15 now I am back to the 175 SMK but still using the RL-15. Are the 175's and 178's loads interchangable? I do not have time for load development before the match in Las Vegas. My original load was 43.0 grains of Varget under a 175 SMK, the Amax load was 44.8 grs of Rl-15 under a 178 amax. Now where do I go with 175SMK's and RL-15.... I NEED HELP FAST!!!!

I interchange both depending on what I can get ahold of, I like the 178's better and use exclusively, RE-15 on both. My load for the 175 SMK is exactly the same as the 178Amax, 43.9 RE-15. Only real difference is seating depth, I seat the Amax considerably longer than the SMK. The 43.9 load does well for me with either bullet.

I have been using 44.5 of rl-15 with the 175smk. You should be good somewhere in there.

Kwild- what is your seating depth? My SMK load is .018 from the lands The Amax load is much further from the lands and is seated 2.815 COL.

I had to go to mag length. I go as long as I can which is about 2.825-2.828 measured to the tip. I dont have the tool to measure to the ogive. When doing my loads I had good luck with 42.5 and 44.5. Anything lower, in between and higher started to spread out. For length I had good luck with 2.810 and 2.825-2.830.

I am going to try just swapping the 175SMK in place of the 178Amax keep the powder charge at 44.8 of RL15. I may have to screw with thw seating depth some but that is all I hope.
