Airguns are pretty cool, they have their purposes.

I have a couple, to practice shooting around the house as well as pest control. Where I live, it's illegal to discharge a firearm, so rimfires are out.

My favorite is my .22 Taipan Veteran. Have successfully taken it out to 272 yards on numerous occasions. wreaks havoc on the local pest population. It shoots a .22 cal 16 grain pellet at ~1000 fps. Has an excellent adjustable two stage trigger. Nice thing about airguns is that you can legally buy suppressors for them, and they are completely unregulated. The things are whisper quiet, which is great for shooting without alerting any fucking hippies.

The PCP world of airguns is insane! Only downside to them is how loud they are. Airguns have traditionally been very backyard friendly, but the bad boys of the PCP world are actually as loud as some firearms! My current "beast" of an airgun is my Hatsan Carnivore 130. It's a .30 caliber gas piston and yes it is a HUGE bitch to cock! Definitely not a kid friendly gun at almost 10 lbs.! God knows how much lbs. it takes for the cocking effort, but it's easily the hardest airgun to cock that I ever owned.

Some are really quiet. coupled with a shrouded barrel and/or moderator/suppressor, they can be super quiet. Neighbors can't hear me shooting at all with any of my PCP's. My wife's PCP in .177 cal is insanely quiet.

Your wife's .177 must be regulated because an unregulated PCP in .177 would send a pellet screaming past the sound barrier!

It is. It's a 12 fpe gun - Air Arms S200 (made by CZ). Perfect for stealth pest control.

Sweet looking gun and at a decent price too! Looking at it right now and says it's fill pressure is 2,700 PSI. Great news for hand pump users because any gun 3,000 PSI and above is a bitch to pump up by hand!
