Show Me State
Has anyone else heard of this? Is it something your doing yourself? Do you think these people are crazy or common sense folk with good contingency plans for when the shit hits the fan?

Re: American Preppers Network

We saw the show the other night, and while we think some had a few interesting ideas, they also are missing a few key points.

Whereas at the same time, another had taken it to a whole new level. That one guy sure is sold on the 2012 concept though. He's convinced it's almost down to year/month/day/hour and minute.

Logistics being the key in nearly all venues showcased, compare their achievements with your own situation.

Then decide who's crazy.

I saw the same show the other night too and that's why I posted. I thought the first guy profiled with the idea a storm from the sun would cause mass power outages and apocalypse scenario was pretty far out. The other stories were more my speed. I have asked myself what would my family and I do if some catastrophic event were to ever happen. We have property to go to but it is pretty far away. I don't have a food cashe but, guns, ammo and survival skills I do have. It seems logical that some sort of plan is necessary so I may start more ideas together but maybe not as extreme as having pallet of wheat delivered to my house.

Re: American Preppers Network

I think a lot of it depends on where you live.
I live in a very rural area and it is not uncommon to be without power for 1 week after a storm or during an ice storm in the winter.
A couple winters back we went 14 days without and 4 days without being able to leave our house.
So we are always ready with a month of readily available food, water is always a struggle, 5 people in our house so quick calculations say 150 gallons of potable water for a month. Not easy to store, and water has to be treated or it will grow stuff. I had 5 gallon water cooler type bottles and after 4 months they started growing algae.
I would suggest to everyone to start with a month, figure what you and your family would need to survive a month without leaving your property, no running water and no electricity.
A month would cover most probabilities, in most areas.

That's one of the reasons why I moved my family from Los Angeles to Idaho. Survivability.

Costco sells 1 month food stores for adults. Follow the link...

Prevailing winds will blow ash & debris East. We're GTG here in SW Idaho!
