I'm very interested in some comments on the new American Rifle M5 Mausingfield action. I see they sell for $1600, but I'm not sure if they are shipping yet and if anyone has any experience with a build based on this action.

I like the what they have done with the replaceable keyed rail, the Mauser style extractor and 1903 Springfield ejector. What I would like to better understand is the design of the locking lugs. As I understand it, no matter what the back of the bolt is doing (e.g., rising up), the toroidal bolt lugs make proper contact with the spherical bearing surface of the receiver. The questions I have are: 1) How does the bearing surface of this system compare with fully lapped lugs? and 2) How does the bolt face stay orthogonal to axis of the bore if it does not matter what is happening at the back of the bolt?
