Hey everyone,
I found this ammo on CTD. I was wondering if anyone has had experience w/ it, and if they know who really manufactures it. It claims to be LC manufacture w/ an FC 08-10 headstamp and is very well rated. I suppose I'm kind of wary about the sub-$20/box price tag on it. I am including a pic and description as it appears on CTD. Any info would be great. [img:left]http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/LargeImage.aspx?sku=AMM-721[/img]

Haven't personally run across that ammunition, but why now buy a couple boxes of it and give it a try? I do that all the time, just to try out different ammo to see what works and what doesn't. More than likely its factory blemished rounds that didn't fully meet QC standards, but should shoot just fine.

The real question would be are they from the same lot or are they mixed loose ammunition they repackaged.

For sure. Yeah, I have a new .308 I'll be breaking in here in a couple of months. If this stuff is running SMK 175 HPBTs like it says, I'll probably use it for that. After the throat is good and polished, I'll blow what's left to see how it does. Thanks for the input, Redmanss.

Re: Ammo 7.62x51 Federal Hollow Point Boat Tail 175 Gr

I researched this ammo this summer. It's made at the BVAC factory which is a USGI supply contractor for ammo. It's loaded in Federal brass to USGI M118LR specs. It is made with Sierra Match King bullets, I can't remember the powder or primer. It's collet crimped and sealed. The 09 or 10 is the year made.

I had to call LC, Federal and BVAC to get the full story because the CTD ad was misleading. I had bought some and wanted to know who made it. And if it was to USGI spec. It is.

Shortly after my calls it disappeared from the CTD website. Now it's back with a much more accurate and honest description.

It's not as good as FGMM but it's damn good and the brass is substantial. Should reload well.

I tried it and it shoots like the real deal. They're likely QC rejects since the cases are a bit dirty but for the price you can't go wrong. It seems to shoot as good as FGMM. I was happy enough with the test boxes I ordered that I got a case of the stuff.
