First post here! I am very excited to be a member of this community. I am an avid archery and bowhunter that has found a new love in rifles, hunting, and target shooting! As a noob I have my first noob question:

I have a weatherby Vanguard 300 win mag.
I recently ordered the Ammo Boost kit so that I can have a removable magazine. I love the look of this kit!
I tried to install it last night but the floor plate does not line up with the mounting holes in my vanguards floor plate. I checked the packaging- long action, fits weatherby vanguard, 300 win mag. Did they send me the wrong floor plate or did I purchase the wrong part? Any help and insight is appreciated. Thank you for your time!

I just talked to the vendor, they said this company is notorious for packing things incorrectly. They are checking on seeing if they have the correct one in stock, hopefully it will work out and i can show ya guys something cool.

Gonna have to upgrade my Wby now 😂

Edit* Spoke to the company. Doesn’t work with 300 WBY Mag unfortunately.

I would hold on buying this upgrade if you have a 300 Win Mag! Midwest GunWorks told me that there is only 1 floorplate for this model, the 300 win mag magazine would not fit in a short action floor plate. So it looks like I am boned. The guys at Midwest Gun Works are super cool and they are going to let me return the part. Super bummed, i was really lookin foward to having a 5 round mag in this bad boy.

I am. I appreciate that affirmation though. Sorry to hear that. The guy at that company didn’t seem to have a clue frankly. 2 minutes on the phone with him was enough. Thanks for the reply.

GUYS GUYS GUYS I HAVE NEWS.

So check this out. I was wondering if perhaps Midwest Gunworks was just giving me the runaround because perhaps actually figuring out the issue with the Legacy Magazine Adapter just wasn't worth their time. So I ordered another Legacy Ammo Boost Magazine adapter off of Ebay- It showed up same as the Midwest Gunworks supplied item. Too small, does not fit. I was pretty bummed, thinking Legacy Sports is clearly mislabeling something OR Howa has changed their trigger guard design and just didn't tell anyone, my rifle is a Weatherby vanguard so maybe its a matter of series 1 vs series 2, I don't know.
Checking on youtube i find a video of a guy installing the adapter on a LA howa 1500 and his trigger guard looks nothing like what i have (i sent this image to midwest gunworks earlier). So this time I figure I will ask the gentleman on ebay, I say hey, this doesn't fit, its suppose to look like this (youtube image) but it looks like this. He says "My apologies I will send you the adapter/trigger guard for the Howa/Vanguard, keep the magazine, send me back the one that doesnt fit." Yesterday when i get home from work, what's in the mail, a package from said gentleman. I wasn't holding my breath, this is the third try to get a magazine on this rifle. I open the package, and BAM just like the youtube video. I bolt it up to my Vanguard and it fits perfectly. Snug. Like its meant to be that way.

So in short. Legacy Sports is putting the WRONG adapter with their kit, but supplying the correct adapter when sold separately.

This is not the fault of Midwest GunWorks but they will not help you remedy the problem.

You got to find a nice guy like I was fortunate enough to find to work with ya on it or buy the adapter plate and magazine separately.

Pacific Tool and Guage makes a detachable mag bottom metal for the Vanguard. No idea how well they work.

Mike

I’ve ordered this and will check back once it’s installed. AI magazine may take a couple weeks to arrive so i wait until I confirm it fits or if it needs inletting and chambers.

Yessir his eBay name is bargainbay1
Dude is great, super responsive. Mention that I sent you his way - or not- it might be nice to know I appreciate what this guy did. But he’s definitely my go to guy right now

I ordered bottom metals and mag from Pacific Machine and Tool. They were very helpful through the whole process. Turns out a 300 Wby Mag round doesn’t fit in the AI 300 Win Mag magazine due to the forward rib on the magazine making contact with the shoulder of the round.
They allowed me to return the mag and they were going to cut out that rib. They ended up cutting the rib out of a .338 AI. Unfortunately when they sent it back it was a 5 rd not 10 like I purchased. They are sending me another 5 rd cut out for free. It actually holds 6. The bottom metal fits perfectly in my Vanguard that I put a rubberized Howa stock on when I rebarreled it. The bottom metal is “non-refundable” but it fits great. Mags are cheaper with them than anywhere else.
