Just got in an Anschutz 64MP R. It may be a couple weeks before I get time to set it up and take it out to the range.

Wondering if there is any specfic ammo that seems to be shooting well in these guns. I know each individual gun is a little different, but if there was some concensus on ammo, I thought I would locate and buy some while I am getting the other components together.

Thus far I have decided to take a Leupold Mark 4 8.5-25X50 mil dot, that I took off an AR-10 SASS and use it on the 64. It is just sittng here, although it may be more scope than I need. I have ordered a DIP 20 MOA base. I also got a DIP knurled oversized bolt knob to try as well. It just looked very good on their web site. I hope it feels and functions as good as it looks. I have a couple of sets of rings I will try, but may go with Badgers if I don't like the fit of the Warne or Talley's I already have .

Thanks for any ammo advice you can offer up.

Re: Ammo for Anschutz 64

You do have to try a bunch of different ammo. You may get lucky with something cheap. As mentioned, start cheap and work your way up. Aguila Match and Eley Sport are good places to start. You may also get really lucky and find a bulk ammo that the rifle likes. My 10/22 really likes Federal Auto Match.

Check out Champion Shooter's Supply. They have a pretty good selection of rimfire ammo.

Re: Ammo for Anschutz 64

Hey Guys,

Thanks for all the info. I posted resuts of the first 9 types of ammo I tried with Wolf Match Target shooting best so far. Eley Match Black second and Eley Sport third.

Got three more different ammos coming to try, but the 64 MPR really did like the Wolf Match Target.
