Ammo Rules for Flying - Silliness Abounds

So I am planning a flight on Delta and was reading the rules for ammunition and firearms. Most of them are straight forward enough and make a modicum of sense. Then I saw this:

Ammunition in excess of 11 lbs. per passenger or that contains potential projectiles is not allowed.

and I thought that this is interesting language, since I know of no ammunition that doesn't contain potential projectiles (That's sorta the point, isn't it?). Leaves the prosecution door wide open doesn't it?

They aren't potential projectiles, they are definite projectiles, so I think they should be exempt.

Lol, good point. But I am left wondering what they meant by that. Not that I'm going to lose sleep over it or anything.

written by somebody that doesn't know what a bullet is compared to ammunition. I work in the airlines and I see it all the time. rules and regs written behind a desk by a person who has forgotten they work for an airline or had no clue about the subject they were tasked to write a rule about.
