Picked up a Ruger M77 Hawkeye Long Range Target chambered in 6.5 Creedmoor. Its 1/8 twist barrell..

Anyone have this rifle and can make suggestions for a factory match ammo it likes?

Much appreciated...

As mentioned try a few different ammos in your Creedmoor. It all depends on what you are looking to do with the rifle and what you want to spend. For less expensive plinking the Hornady American Gunner works well and for match rounds with higher BCs the 140 or 147 ELD-Ms. Others out there as well to try. See what the rifle likes.

While I have no experience with the long range target rifle model, I have/had several Hawkeye's over the years and whats good for one isn't good for all. You will really have to let your rifle dictate what it wants. So look at it with an open mind and go with the flow. Having a preconceived notion or desire of what YOU expect can just frustrate you. Ive been there. YMMV

I would try the 140 american gunner they are cheaper at 138 per 200 but still shoot great and the prime 130's sadly I only got 60 round of it to try , I will be getting more but it did shoot really nice . I still love the 140's had someone at the range reload the Berger 140's and 100 of the 142 smk 's they shot nice you may get the same results , maybe not . i only have a 600 yard range to shoot at and all of them really felt and shot the same it was like cheating it was great . good luck to you in finding that perfect ammo for your gun .

Op,

Nobody can tell you what your rifle will like. You need to buy a bunch of ammo and try it out.

Prime 130
ELDM 140
ELDM 147
Berger 140
Berger 130
FGMM 130
FGMM 140
Hornady AG 140

Thanks for the replies.

I realize each rifle will like different ammo and will require a certain amount of experimentation...

However, my question was generally intended for people who may have this same rifle and what has worked for them.

This would give somewhat of a starting point while still realizing there would still be variations and differences.

Cheers.

Shameless self bump, but...

I decided to get a couple boxes each of the 140gr and 147gr Hornady ELD and one box of the match 140gr Berger.

Will do some grouping this weekend and report back for anyone interested in the results.

Need to break it in, got a good deal on it, now to see how it does.
