This is another really cool video. Watch how the carriages flex and absorb the huge shock. Carriage design by the civil was was unbelievabley advanced. But also very subtle. Angles, stepped bolts, shims, strength but also “give” to protect the barrel trunnions and vector shock/energy away from the tubes.
