I just got my Droid and downloaded the shooter ballistics app. Looks useful, but I was also hoping to use the GPS feature to find the distance to my targets when I set them up in an open field.
I have only had the phone for about three hours so maybe I'm missing something obvious. But I figured there was a basic GPS app to do this. All I'm Finding are calorie burning Apps based on where u walk throughout the day and hiking and golf-based GPS Alps.
So what am I missing? Is there an app out there to suit our needs?

Pthanks. I'll look into that one. I found one called Andmeasure that will kinda work. But it basically only lets you touch two points on a map of where you are and measures it. Its down to the foot but is only as accurate as your pointer finger is on a touchscreen.
I'm looking for an apparently where I can stand in one place, push a button, and that's my zero point. Then walk or drive to another point, push the button again, and I have my distance
Will that app do that?

Yes, GPS Status will do that.

As to the other......the regular Android Google mapping program will do the same thing....touch two points and it will tell you the distance. No need for a third-party app for that.
