Another DirtBag

Delete this if it is too political but what pisses me off most about this whole article is this...

Congress passed a law that makes it illegal to falsely claim to have been awarded medals or other decorations from the U.S. military. A federal court last year deemed the law unconstitutional, saying it infringes on free speech. The case — involving Rick Strandlof, who was arrested in 2009 after claiming he was wounded in Iraq as a Marine and received the Purple Heart and Silver Star — is now before an appeals court.

If I had to choose, I'd rather keep our right to free speech than have the 'Stolen Valor Act'... It's far more important than a few idiots falsely claiming medals.

That was the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals. Does it surprise you now?

Re: Another DirtBag

I was involved in two cases similar to this while in the Army. In one case I slammed an E7 Drill Sergeant for wearing multiple awards and skill badges he hadn't earned including a Ranger Tab, a Bronze Star, a CIB and a combat unit patch. He was also married to two women at the same time and had somehow managed to insert bogus NCOER's into his record. 18 years in the Army ended in reduction to E1 and a dishonorable discharge.
