This RECON was built for a well known and respected gun writer for an upcoming article and to be used as his training rifle for a few years. The SPECS are:

Underground Skunkworks STINKER II Action (he's rather small in stature and needed a hinged floorplate)

Broughton 5C Barrel, RECON Contour

Underground Skunkworks Pinned Recoil Lug

Underground Skunkworks Bolt Knob

Underground Skunkworks Hinged Floor Plate

Underground Skunkworks Precision Pillar System

BO Embedded Front Rail

Manners MCS-T2A Stock

Timney/Skunkworks Trigger

Surefire Suppressor Adapter

The finish is Birdsong Green-T with Black-T accents and of course Todd "The Man" Jackson handled the camo job.

I'll be releasing the PERSEUS Package next week, which is a variation of the RECON (T4A with 22" barrel, threaded for TacOps suppressor, all other specs are the same as the RECON), for $3695. What this means is, the RECON will drop in price to $3895 with the Skunkworks DBM and $3495 with the HFP. Neither package will be offered with the Remington action as of next week. If you want to add the AAC suppressor adapter to the PERSEUS, it will then go up to $3895. I've added the new pricing info for the RECON to my website.

I heard their may be a DBM in the works for the FN/Win, any truth to that rumor? </div></div>

As a matter of fact there is. I'll be introducing the first of my DBM systems next week and the FN DBM for AICS mags is modeled. It'll be another couple of months as I need to finish up some of the other projects (Rimfire, etc.) that has run kinda long in the tooth....

Thanks Dan and your first build should be starting as soon as the stock comes in....Also, I'll shoot you some pics of the 300RCM that I built on an FN to hunt bear with this fall....It may help you with your varmint rifle decision....

Beautiful rifle!

Does the action have mechanical ejection and a coned bolt?

Can it also feed from AW mags?

Sorry if I missed this somewhere. </div></div>

Thanks 468....This particular action was designed for an internal box mag and has a M-16 style extractor with plunger ejector.

I have a version of the Model 911 "Military" in testing that is Controlled Round Feed/Mechanical Eject and Coned Bolt. It only feeds from the AICS because of the location of the Mechanical Ejector.

The "Stand Alone," "Compatible" and current production versions of the "Standard" and "Military" will feed from the AICS and AW mags and use the M-16 style extractor/plunger eject. I hope to have my CRF actions available soon....Thanks again and let me know if you have any additional questions....

Re: Another Skunkworks RECON-Pic Heavy

Mike or anyone else, is the BO EFR adjustable in height to accommodate for different scopes heights for the PVS22. I have been playing around with a couple in the past 2 weeks and one had a Larue style mount and the other had some other kind of QD mount on it. And switching around from different platforms, it seemed that the better the PVS and the scope are aligned the cleaner the picture through the PVS.

Bacarrat,
The elevation on the EFR is fixed. The PVS22 that I'm using has a height (from the surface that sits on the EFR to the center of the tube) of 1.5" and I find that I have to be rather choosey when it comes to the ring height. Otherwise, the pixelation that you noticed can be rather bothersome.

The other thing that will affect sight picture through your PVS is if you're using a magnification setting that is too high. IIRC, the 14X to 16X range will be the max with most NV devices and mags higher than that you start to lose resolution....It's been a couple of years since I conducted the tests though and I may be a little off on my numbers....

Thanks Frank, and as a matter of fact, I had five Atlas Rails and a V8 show up the day after the photos were taken. I'm thoroughly impressed with the V8 and the Harris pods are destined for a very long vacation....

Yep, I would agree. We were playing around with a couple different rifles tonight and it was pixelating on the 22x NF. It wasn't really setup correctly as the scope sat a little lower then the PVS22. We can still see through it. Then I temporary put a 3-15x50 NF on my MK12 with a Bobro 1.5 off set mount on it and it aligns almost perfectly. With the mag set at 15x, it was decent, but the further you go down on power it got way better. We then ran over to the 1k yard range, and I thought it was better at 1k then it was at 300 and 100 yards. I think it was because it was more open for light then the close in shorter ranges. For shits and grins we put the PVS22 in front of a 4x ACOG and damn, that thing is clear!

Re: Another Skunkworks RECON-Pic Heavy

Optimal power with a piece of NV is around 8X, I wouldn't want to be much over 12X with any combination... you have to figure pupil exit with NV. You match the exit number with where our eye settle in at night.

You can't just max power it with NV, we're not built for it, which is why your ACOG looked great, the Exit Pupil was large enough to account for your eyes.

Not to worry, it's all related as far as I'm concerned....

This is exactly what I found in the testing. The platform you'll be getting pretty soon has a max power on the optic of 8X, and that's not by accident. Above that, the quality of the glass buys you a little, but it all comes down to exit pupil. The image intensifier in the NV is far more efficient than the human eye, and of course, it gets worse with age. Us guys over the age of 40 find that owning a large objective/high mag optic is a waste of money....The eye simply can't absorb that much light as the older you get the less pupil dialation you have....
