but now the question is do I try something new like 260rem or stay with the 308 that I have been loading for 35 years.

Either way, I'm sure you'll love it. The .260 is better for long range, but the .308 has much better factory ammo options and pricing. It's a judgement call.

What do you want it to do? 600-700 yards 308, out past 260, WAY out past get a 338LM. Better yet get all 3

Re: Another TRG ? 260 or 308

My house is going to stay with the 308 it has done every thing I have wanted to do until now and I can save the expense of tooling up for the 260. I will use that money to buy more mags for my New rifle. Can't wait just have to get Alex at EO to sharpen his pencil.

Thanks

James

260 all the way. I shoot my 260 out to 1000 today for the first time. I had always used my 308 prior. The difference was noticeable. Less elevation and less wind drift were the 2 biggest things that I noted. Also, granted my 260 weights 1-2 lbs more than my 308, the recoil felt much less after 75 rounds, not that a 308 is bad, it was just less with the 260.

You could buy one in .308 and have another barrel made to switch to .260, or vice versa. Just got my .260 barrel back from bead blast, thread and chambering.
