The thing all you people miss is that deportation is not a criminal conviction. Deportation is a civil action.

If you're walking naked down main street and a cop arrests you and charges you all your civil rights come into play. If the cop walks up and hands you a pair of shorts and tells you to put them on, he's actually cutting you an undeserved break by allowing you to get in compliance with the law.

Do any of you remember the sitcom 'Night Court'? How about we do something like that with immigration cases and run courts 24/7/365. You give the defendant a court date and time. If the defendant or the lawyer doesn't show up, then prosecution states they are ready to proceed and the defendant is either found guilty in abstentia or has to defend themselves.

No case extensions, excuses, or exclusions.
