My old neighbor back in WV got COVID. He is a decorated firefighter and EMT. He was in the hospital for 2 weeks, just shy of a ventilator. It ain't something I'd futz with- and I'd get a vaccine just for those kinds of people- People that would give their lives so others can live.

As I mentioned, his academic credentials and benchtop contributions cannot be denied.

With that said, credentials and contributions do not disqualify one from being cunty at points throughout their career.

And I am completely comfortable, personally, saying Fauci is being cunty in his most recent declarations stating the american people (paraphrasing) weren't ready to hear the truth on herd immunity requirements.

He isn't doing anyone any favors by obscuring and/or withholding truth statements based on his own subjective feeling on what he thinks 330 million people are "ready for".

I weep very little for whatever pressure he is or isn't feeling. Telling the truth as soon as you have, or admitting you don't know the answer, it is pretty standard practice, referencing your requirements of being professional, at the end of the day.

Definitely the pressure component. However I wouldn't say I dismiss it, I just can't buy into the concerns of Fauci succumbing to political pressure and subsequently resulting him not being honest as soon as possible.

I can 100% be empathetic to not handling briefings/questions well, answering questions poorly, etc. That type of spotlight and off-the-cuff performance for someone of his background I am sure is stressful.

But his sole, long, and conscious play to give a "truth" early in pandemic, and then admit later in the pandemic that it wasn't a "truth", and it was purposefully modified because he felt the american people weren't ready for it? #cunty_move

I make a large part of my living administering vaccines all day every day. I have immense faith and confidence in their efficacy and safety. My profession pretty much invented the concept of “herd” immunity. I’m rooting hard for these COVID vaccines to deliver us from this nightmare, I truly am. My hat is off to the scientists and companies who made this happen, and to Trump who cleared the path despite EVERYONE laughing at him and saying it could never happen that fast. But it did, and if you can’t understand the reluctance some people may have to accept a vaccine into their bodies that was developed in less than 20% of the time normally taken to assure safety and efficacy, yet you understand what unsafe vaccines can/have done to some people (and even safe ones in some individuals), AND you understand that if you are in decent shape and get infected with the actual disease you are likely to experience symptoms no worse than the flu, then it isn’t everyone else who is stupid. (I’m sorry, “stoopid”).

You realize this is a flu strain, there is already another strain of it showing up. It's like the regular flu vaccine, doesn't kill the flu or really protect against it. They pick 4 strains each year to put in that they "think" will be most prevalant that season. 30-60k people still die each year from flu related illness.

Being a combat medic, you should probably know most of this.
