I have been googling this all day and can't find a direct comparison even though I know there is somewhere out there. I'm looking for a direct comparison between Hornady 105 AMAX and bthp, Berger 105 (any) and Sierra 107 SMK. preferrably out of the same gun with good load development first and shooting right around the same speed. I'm looking to exclusively shoot one or the other at 1000 and eventually beyond that.

95% of the time I shoot 107's at close range and at 1000, I have only shot the 107's and they did okay for me. Definite room for improvement.

Thanks guys.

I first developed a load in my 243 AI with the 105 Amax and then tried the Berger 105 VLDs, with same powder charge. Only difference is the seating depth. The Bergers run about 40 fps faster than the Amax and shoot about .5 inch better groups at 300yds. I haven't tried the 107s and probably won't because both of these shoot really well.

Anthony, the only comparison I can give is what I tried. I tried the A-Max and Bergers, loading them hot and low, made adjustments to lengths per their book and even tried being creative and the only ones I had any luck with have been the SMK's, 95's for up to 600 yds and the 107's out to a mile. When I say tried different loads, I went through roughly five hundred loads and about 8 to 9 months, as time allowed to find the perfect match, bullet, powder, case, OG length and primers. You say the MK's did ok, but like you I couldn't really find anything to compare to for 6mm. Attached is a pic that was shot after a friend and I finished shooting @ 1,000. He was using his 300 WM and mine was my .243, doubt this would win any competition, but was shot off of a small bench with a bipod and the best continuous 5 shot group I have done in one setting. My buddy ran out of his loads so only did 4 shot's, but not to hard to figure out where no 5 would have been. Wish I could add more but this is what I found. Didn't really measure anything, but came out sub MOA and was happy with that.

Thanks for the info. It seems that all of them will shoot well if time is given for a good load. I have been pleased with the smk's but I haven't ever tried the 105 vld. Boone, what kind of groups were you getting at 1000 with the vld's?

AZ2000, that's some good shooting. Keeping 1 MOA out to 1000 is great.
