So my FiL found a 1917 penny that he looked up “on the internet” and teh interwebz told him that it is worth $5k. Where can I go to research it’s worth and if it is worth something where would be the best place to sell it?

While civil war relic hunting here in central Virginia I found a silver 1 Reale Spanish cob that was minted in Lima Peru in 1691. If only it could talk. One heck of a journey.

I did this with my wifes grandfathers european collection so we didnt get too swindled by dealers they can be sneaky apparently.. it was laborious however american coins if they are rare are usually valuable.

Condition is the biggest factor after rarity in market value.
