Any drywall contractors on the forum?

Re: Any drywall contractors on the forum?

Bolt I need the boss not the guy balancing the sheet on his head.

Needing to come up with an estimate of the quantity of collated screws I'd need to purchase to install apprx 3500 square feet of drywall.

Re: Any drywall contractors on the forum?

Thanks guys. Averaging responses from a couple forums looks like I'll need ~3500-4000 screws so I'll get 5000 to be on the safe side. The extras will get used eventually.

16"C around the border and 8"C in the field still the normal spec? I haven't done any layout, framing, or drywall since I was a 75%er in 68L(Anti Woodpecker) as in LATHER'S Union.
I'll be removing the metal tubes in favor of large beam supports in my garage next year, then using a bottom course of Durarock on the ottom of the wall, and Green WR Board on the top course. The floor will be done with UCoatIt in light grey, walls will be drylocked on teh cinderblocks then gone over in basic white with a 6" red stripe on top, and a 2' red stripe on the bottom ala 1950's Route 66 shops. A 4'x4' corner bench will be in one corner for reloading duty, and a 4'x7' work bench will fill the opposite corner. I plan on doing all but the wiring on this, and have my contractor do the heavy metal to rid the center of the garage of it's metal poles.
I got this in blood from Panty 6 because of this little project that just got done:

If you average 10' pieces(for average size rooms buy mostly or all 12' sheets) thats 85-90 sheets no more than 24 screws per sheet(more glue less screws) if you use more than that the taper will charge more and it does not improve anything so no more than 2500

Is this a joke? Must be union horse shit!

The Screw count is a matter of building and fire code requirements relating to fire ratings and structural integrity.

Finishing is typically paid as part of the per board installation. Certainly, the circumstances of the installation ( Such as height of the ceilings/walls or using accelerated mud such as 90, 45, 20, or especially, 5 minute mud) will affect pricing but screw count is inconsequential. A vertical stroke over the screws and a clean swipe, with each successive coat of mud is not a bit different if you are bedding 6 screws or 12!

Same goes for sanding them. And what difference does it make if you are working the butt or tapered joints? They're both taped over! There could be 100 screws there and no one would ever know the difference!

If anyone tried that chicken shit, per-screw, finishing-price crap here, they'd be laughed out of business. Perhaps dumb ass homeowners might fall for that nonsense but no one in the commercial side would ever pay more for it.
