I'm in the central VA area (between Charlottesville and Richmond) and I'm trying to get into the F t/r shooting. Currently working on building my rifle up a bit, but I'm having difficulty finding a place with the type of ranges I would need to practice.

Cool, I'm in tidewater area as well. just getting back into it. Was in bit of a AR15 craze lately. Just ordered a scope and making a trek up to Colonial in Richmond to see what they have as far as long range sticks

I personally picked up a $350 Remmy 700 ADL at Dicks on this past black Friday. It offered a solid starting point for my build. So far I've added a Jewell trigger, Tubb Speedlock pin, NF 20MOA Base, Burris Extreme Tactical 30MM Rings and a Vortex Viper 6.5-20x44 Optic. I'm also chomping at the bit, waiting on the XLR Evolution that's on order.

After pricing the store bought "precision rifles" I thought it best to build one from the ground up, with components of my preference. I feel like confidence in your equipment plays a big part in accuracy when it comes to shooting, just as it would with fishing, or anything really. I've had rifles I didn't believe in, that I couldn't hit the broad side of a barn with, while my buddies have picked them up and shot sub MOA. In fact I still have a Remington Model 742 in 30-06, that i used to hunt with, but I refuse to aim at a deer right now b/c I lost confidence in it.
