I'm looking to find a good 338 solid bullet for the 338 lapua. Anyone have any experience using brass solids in there 338 lapua? I'm looking for good penetration power at long distances. Yesterday I was shooting a cinder block at 1000 yards and the Bergers 300gr OTM only put about a 1/4" dent in the cinder block, I want to demolish it at 1000 yards with the 338 lapua. At 500 yards the Berger OTM's do the job but not at 1000 yards on a cinder block. Thanks in advance

You could also ask our Brothers from Down Under about the downrange performance of the Woodleigh 250 grain VLD Solids.

They have been making solids for quite awhile.

Sources in the US, MidwayUSA and Huntington Die Specialties.

I tried the 230gr solid back in 2009 but it didn't group very well in my rifle, so I moved on. In hindsight I suspect it had more to do with my 26" 1:10 twist as they are very long bullets to begin with and probably weren't stable enough. I'm having a 32" 1:9 barrel built now so I think I'll be trying them again, this time using the 245gr model. If the BC is remotely close to the listed value, N560 should be able to push it close to 3100fps, keeping it supersonic out to about 2600 yards, well beyond my current best jacketed load.

Before LRBT went under, they made a 270gr J36 solid that had really impressive performance but fouled in an ugly manner.
