Re: Any new Remingtons in 260 for 2011?
It's a shame that Remington has all but abandoned the 260 that it standardized. All their rifles in 260 have a 1/9 twist anyway, which may or may not work with 140 grain bullets, depending on your choice of projectile.
I just ordered a Savage Weather Warrior in .260 from Bud's last week. I'd have loved another 700, but it appears it's not in the cards. I was ready to move into a new caliber for hunting, and I'm eventually going to build a tactical-style 260, so this was a natural choice, and the .260 is a perfect whitetail and hog cartridge for here in Texas. As is known, Savage is making them with 1/8 twist, so if I really wanted to, I could move up to the 160 grain Woodleigh for Elk (which I probably won't get around to).
Sorry, no good news from Remington this year but I'll post a review of the Savage when I shoot it in case you're willing to look at something other than Remington. I just got a Vortex Diamondback 4-12x40 AO to top it with, really looking forward to getting this thing out in the woods. Too late for deer this year, but we have plenty of hogs and coyotes.
