Thinking about ordering a few barrels in the next month or so for my new to me axmc. Planning on one CF and two SS prefit barrels from Proof. Any reason to avoid the barrel or prefit?

My CF 6.5x47L barrel for my AX has been incredible. I also have a CF on my AR and it has also been extremely good. Both were prefits, and both were perfect. Based on the two barrels I’ve had from them, I’d highly recommend them. I remember a few years ago when they first started to get really popular, there were a lot of quality complaints and problems I heard about (particularly with the gas gun prefits), but from what I can tell they’ve really stepped up and seem to be giving out consistent top quality blanks and prefits on par with the likes of Bartlein, Kreiger, and other experienced barrel makers.

I have a Proof 24" CF prefit in 6.5CM for my AX308. Barrel shoots really well. Will be buying another when it is shot out. Only negative is I find it makes the rifle a little rear heavy.

I would avoid them like the plague if you don't like tubes that hammer....

I have 2 ss proof prefits for my axmc both shoot lights out

For a carbon the only reason I would avoid it is if you are going to be using overbored barrels that get shot frequently, they can get costly when they are only lasting 1200 rounds. For a chambering that will last awhile I wouldnt have reservations. They have proved their merit.

I've not heard a single friend have a bad experience with a Proof barrel. They put a ton of support behind Best in Texas PRS match and have been awesome to work with. I have 2 future builds with Proof barrels, 1 in stainless and 1 in that sexy CF they seem to have mastered.

I have both carbon and stainless proof barrels. The steel barrel shoots in the 0.1s and I'm guessing after I finish load dev today, the carbon will probably do the same.

I say yes....
