I got a mean old Remington 11-48 the other day for free. It was a rust bucket, and as hard as it was for me to stomach it, I had to polish the bluing off. It shoots and operates well, but it will not cycle rounds. I have to manipulate the action manually after each shot to cycle a new round. I took it down 100% and cleaned it as best I could, and reassembled it. I own an 1100 used the knowledge of it to put this gun back together but its entirely possible i did something wrong that is causing the problem. The model 11 style friction ring in this one says "up for all load types" so i dont think i assembled it wrong. Any help or tips?

Ill post some general pics and some pics of how i have it assembled. I wish i had taken before and after shots. It was almost rusted shut and i was able to give it new life. I just want it to cycle and work 100%

ETA: Used my light trap load in it, would not cycle so i tried the heaviest most robust loads i had on me, some lead #4 shot and still nothing. Tried a slug later and still nothing.

Re: Any Remington 11-48 knowledge here?

the mag tube is greased with CLP. Over greased probably. I tried that first when i learned that can be a problem.

It feels like the barrel is binding up in the action before it is able to return the bolt all the way backward

Good point, make sure when you're tightening the mag cap that you're also pushing the barrel a bit reaward so as to really secure the mag cap

Keep us posted as to your solution if you find one. I inherited a 11-48 that has the same problem. Have not broken mine down yet.

I cant figure it out still. If i load 5 shells into it and manually cycle the action by pushing the barrel into the action, it will eject and feed as it should. But it wont when firing live

These low-base or hi-base loads? Probably going to need hi-base loads at the least.

Remove the buttstock there will be a pin in the tube that comes out of the receiver push that out and the spring and the follower will come out should be 3 parts
I cant figure out how to get it out.

low base except for the slug i fired. the slug was a high base and same result.
