Any 'smiths rebarrel Tikka?

I can buy a tikka lite for a great price, but I have no use for another sporter barreled rifle. Who are some reputable gunsmiths that could chamber, cut, and install a barrel on a tikka action? What would the approximate cost be (assume I supply a contoured shilen blank)? Is there any value to the takeoff Sako barrel?

I spoke with the fellows over at Accurate Ordnance about doing a rebarrel on a Tikka once. Look them up also, they do fine work.

Looks like the going rate is about $330 for the labor + cost of the barrel blank. However, after handling the savage and tikka side by side today, I can't feel enough of a difference to justify the $500-$600 difference.

He didn't say he couldn't feel the difference...just that he doesn't think the difference it is worth $500+.

I can feel a difference, but not enough to justify $500+. If Tikka would import the CTR, I'd be all over it, but until then, my "polished turd" will more than suffice.

Ok, don't get me wrong I used a savage a long time but the tikka is the smoothest factory action ever. Chad at long rifles is great, give him a call. If you are going custom barrel etc, it just makes sense to save a bit more and build on a nicer action in my mind. If you are ok with savage do the lrp maybe.

Meanwhile we can dream of the ctr coming back, stupid Beretta. I actually got one of the last ones imported. Great rifle.

You're right, and maybe someday I will go that route, but for now, I'm not a good enough shooter to see the difference between the two on paper, and I can get a good buy on the hog hunter, so I'm confident if/when the time comes to upgrade, I can sell w/o much loss. The $500+ I'll save will be much better served spent on ammo practicing.

I had score high gunsmithing put a brux barrel on my tikka t3 and bed it in my b&c stock. Totally worth it.
