Any good advice for set up?

At the range we have had real good luck grinding/sanding steel to clean off surface rust. Wipe down with acetone and then put Velcro on. If it’s cold we heat the steel up pretty good before putting Velcro on. We have some out all year Long really the only time they come if is if they get hit or in the cold weather the Velcro eventually let’s go. A lot of times it’s off the plastic flasher harness.

    Thank you!

My steel is 1/4 inch AR500 from Hang Fast. They won't be closer than 200 yards.

My anal retentive nature says I want to mount the lights top or bottom.

As the HF plates hang angled, bottom close to mount pole, I fear a strike causing the T1000 to hit the mount pole.

The head is just wide enough to cover the light housing with little to spare.

Thinking either right or left side will be the only option.

I'll leave in basement to warm, sand clean, acetone, apply Velcro, lay plates on top of each other for awhile to stick the Velcro under pressure.

    Any advice?

    Side it will be.

I've got all my info for mounting.

Planning to set up to display red hit and would like to flash yellow for misses.

Got the idea to get these last year when shooting .223 at 450 yards, couldn't see steel movement, couldn't hear it, couldn't see hits through spotter......had to drive down and was happy to see info on steel but would have corrected sooner.

I have had the best luck putting them on the head with a 12:00 attachment. I have also tried using 2 of them at 3:00 and 9:00.

If it is just you shooting, its fine. But get a few dudes out there and someone is going to try for a head shot and hit the reflector. Not a big deal unless it pulls the reflector out of the housing.

I run mine on the side as well. Picked up a Gen 2 and had issues with it not flashing with the stock program. Gen 1 worked no issues. Tried contacting them for help and a week later the announcement came out about the purchase by Kestrel. Just my luck.

Idea of having to use an app sucks but it was a good price and I didn't know there was a 2.

I have 12 of the gen 2. The velcro is the weak point. Need to find a better replacement for the stock velcro, as it sucks in cold nasty weather.

I've seen that mentioned elsewhere too, and it's put me off getting a couple. I had wondered about making my own mounting plate and using a decent epoxy to hold it on. Or maybe a silicone adhesive would be better with the vibration of impacts.

The app is easy enough to use, kinda weird that it uses tones to relay the data. I lowered the sensitivity a little and will try again when i get back out to shoot. It might be a while due to back issues. Make sure you get the window "aimed" correctly also. Otherwise you won't see the flash even if it does work.

Id thought a strong Nymodium (SP) magnet would be the shizzle but MS they tried that and the magnets would just crack.

I probably wont be able to use these until spring....the period just before the cows go to that pasture, than cant use them unti fall when the cows are out of that pasture.

Saw the little aiming device that comes with. Seems kind haphazard over distance when on a slope.
