Anybody else not a big fan of American Guns?

I just watched one where they sold an M107 used to a guy for 12k . Seems they really charge top dollar for their guns or work. I just don't see why they build guns from raw materials. They sold a guy a single action pistol for over 10,000 on another episode. The guy could have gotten a Ruger and built it up from there. Its awesome that they have the ability to produce guns from scratch but its not worth the time or money.

I really dislike this show. More so than sons of guns.

What they charge people is ridiculous, but who knows if they are showing the real figures or not. For all we know, they could have sold that M107 for $8000, and the producers decided to "jazz it up" a bit. But I've read enough bad things about GunSmoke that it wouldn't surprise me if that is what they are charging people.

Yea, the biker dude that spent $5K for the copy of his old pocket pistol, that was a hell of a deal if I say so myself!!!

Where the hell do these gunshops come from, a circus? How did they survive pre poor reality TV????

Another piss in the face to 'real' gunowners and what they stand for!!! Everyone watching thinks all gunowners are right wing millionaires with the common sense of a dead cat. Oh, and just like their fu**in relatives @ Red Jacket that can't shoot a flippin thing without tannerite in it. Makes a real 2nd Amendment supporter seem nothing more than a destructive back woods degenerate, but guess I am getting used to CNN and other major networks doing that for years anyhoo. Well gotta go grind up some AN for tomorrow and fire up the lathe!!!!!

I contacted them about some work (engraving). In about '74 I bought a Model 70 Winchester in 375 H&H. Being post '64 it had an aluminum floor plate. I bought a steel floor placte with the intention of getting it engraved. I want a Lion attacking a cape buffalo on it.

Anyway after watching the show, I contacted them about the engaving job. They wouldn't ever talk to me. They said send them the rifle and they'll give me an estiment.

I want the floor plate engraved, not the rifle. Semd them the rifle to get an estimate. Sorry I'm not paying to ship anything so they can tell me its too much.

Guess I'll find someone else. Its been well over 35 years, I can wait a few more.

So I'm not impressed with the outfit.

I didn't know better, and about 5 years ago Gunsmoke glass bedded two of my rifles, which took 3 months (on a rush order, no less), and did such a poor job I was speechless. The barrels were both tweeked in the stock so it all looked twisted into place, uneven spacing between the barrel and the stock, and there was sticky ooze all over the place.

Oddly, the rifles didn't shoot any better with this modification by these "professionals".

Naturally I sold them to someone else who was impressed, so it wasn't a total loss.
