I had a N.D. as a teenager with a .357 next to my ear, that took care of hearing out of my right side. Now the funny part, I have a mineral seep in my hunting area that I set my game camera on, lots of bucks coming in. Its very steep and treed and I'm looking for a place for a ground blind. Only 1 possibility and it's not that good because of the scent cone. It is on a U.S.F.S. old abandoned logging road and as I'm looking around for a spot I see a 6' culvert under the road above the seep.I'm going to put a stool back in the culvert for my blind. What do you think a 300 S.A.U.M. is going to sound like in that thing!

Survival.
Your brain is processing lots of info but in the moment it focuses entirely on that which is most important.
It why a lot of gun fights end up with shots to the gun and hand wounds.
The shooters are not crack shot humanitarians trying to spare a life.
Their training has been put aside and instead of the brain thinking "center mass" it entirely focused on "Oh my God a Fucking gun!"
Brain focuses on gun, telling hand to point at gun, dispatching finger to pull trigger resulting in gun shot to hand holding gun.
Been there in Simunitions training.
Instructor took my round to a finger on his dominant hand.
He was able to put about 6 return shots to my vest protected chest before saying "Fuck!" and shaking his in pain hand.
