Anybody looked at R. Lee Ermy's gun collection for sale?

I saw GB was advertising but didn't take a look. Makes me wish I had the chance to meet him.

I've seen it on GB. Bidding war on some US Optics he owned and other high quality optics

I have been following the auctions. I met him once at the National Gun Day Show in Louisville about 10 years ago, a paid appearance. He enjoyed the attention, was a gentleman and tolerated fools well as he greeted those in line.

R. Lee Ermey had some political preferences that made me lose a lot of respect for him at the end.

Well hey, nobody's perfect. As much as I enjoy and respect Kirk Douglas and Clint Eastwood, and the late Charlton Heston, in their illustrious careers I'm sure I wouldn't agree 100% with everything they've ever said on politics and so on, myself. But that's not gonna stop me from hoping I get to meet both of them one day!

If you do any level of research into his political views, candidacy support, voting record you might change your mind. I don't expect someone to mirror my views but he supported people who were openly anti gunners.

I got most of my information from the wikipedia page about him and it seems considerably toned down from what I read 6 months or so ago. None the less I would find it hard to believe any staunch 2a supporter would vote for Obama.

Fair enough, but I'm not really worried about it. The man's dead, may he rest in peace, so what good would come of that? Kirk Douglas is a lifelong Democrat, I can still admire his career; plus he's 102 surviving a helicopter crash and a stroke. He gets some badass points for that imo.

Don't get me wrong, I've lost respect for a number of actors because of their politics but I'm still gonna enjoy the movies they're in and ignore that about them while I do.

On the original subject of The Gunny's guns, wow, someone must really want his Nepali Martini-Henry! I shoulda gotten one of them back when Atlanta Cutlery was importing them and Brit ones. Think they had some Baker rifles and Brown Besses too...

like this level of research?:

I don't honestly know what you are talking about, but he was pretty much a pro-gun conservative.

He was not a right-wing radical, if that was what you were hoping for. He did advocate for better health care in America. But, like many of us, was disappointed when the American Affordable Health Care Act, AKA "Obamacare," was signed into law. From the sounds of it, he like many in America, incorrectly interpret it as "socialist medicine", when in fact it is "corporate medicine."

But, we aren't here to argue that, we're here to look at what is left of his collection that is selling.

I saw him once at an NRA show. He had a huge line of people lined up to meet him at the Glock booth.

what shows in the auction now looks like scraps.

Where is his M1A?

The sword is an officers Mameluke a proper NCO sword would be more appropriate.

Regards his politics he got called out for calling out Obam in public. It pretty much shut his appearances down except for the history channel reruns.

I could see him being bamboozled by Obam in the first election when he thought he was voting for a "Kennedyesque" figure. Peeps of a certain age weirdly look at "Camelot" as something special and hope to create it again.

Seems he learned pretty quick Obama had more in common with the VC than with King Arthur.

Sorry for being off topic.
I guess it's kind of fair to say that if someone had offended you politically whose stuff comes up for sale, that you (us) were called out on being offensive, to say something about it would not be out of line.

After reading the article, he did support Obama his first term, but not his second. Obama wasn't quite the gun grabber that the Clintons were, IMO. To some that is inexcusable. I only wanted to show what he had that was still up for auction.

To the German:
What the hell is that??
