Re: Anybody shoot a 270 WIN at 1000yds?
Yes.
I have a stock Sendero with an early Tasco 10x SS; I watched the original owner nearly split the wig of a groundhog at a ranged 1210 yards on the first shot, I believe 42 minutes of elevation. The original owner was a very experienced BTDT operator with all kinds of t-shirts. I came into possession of the rifle and shot it at Quantico at a 1000 yd BR match, 12" and change for 5 rounds. Bullet: Sierra 135 MK; 59 gr H4831.
Ballistics are very similar to .308 Win with 175 MKs.
I was never much of a .270 guy until I owned this gun, and it's my go-to deer rifle. But, when you really want some giggles, load up 110 gr VMax over 45 grains of IMR 4350 and shoot field varmints - totally redefines 'red mist' and 'terminal ballistic performance'.
