Anybody using a Tipton Gun Butler or similar?

I'm looking for something that can hold some rifles while I'm cleaning them. I don't clean that often, but when I do I'd like to have something that works rather than rigging my rifle up on a bench with a box of ammo under the butt of the rifle. I always end up knocking shit over. I spilled a bottle of hoppe's the other day which sucked.

I saw in a Cabela's catalog, that just happened to arrive today, a Tipton Gun Butler which looked promising. It's also the right price at $20.

What do you guys think ?
Any experience ?
Like? Dislike?
Anything else I should look at ?

I'd like to be able to hold ARs (10's and 15's), 700's, AICS hell maybe even a shotgun (are you supposed to clean those things?)

Anyone have anything rigged up to catch the spray from solvents when cleaning indoors? I'd like to avoid having my nice white wall sprayed with some butch's boreshine or whatever solvent I'm using...

Thoughts?

To each their own. I made this, for my use. And to my liking.

I have added leather-covered pads on all contact areas. The pads are also deformable for contours, and firm holding.

Adjustable height supports are coming. Slowly.

Interesting. Would you say it's worth another $80 over the gun butler ?

Do you use this for BR ?

I have had the MTM unit for many years. It is very basic but works fine for all my rifles and shotguns. Definitely a must have piece of equipment for cleaning, maintenance, mounting scopes, etc. I like the looks of the Tipton so that's probably what I would get now.
