Anyone ever put an AW action in a standard stock?

Could have sworn I saw this here a few years ago.

I have a short action AW that for some reason I think would be fun to place in something other than what it's in, either by de-bonding the action from the chassis or cutting it to a different length.

MPA makes their chassis with a cut for the AT action. Not sure that will work with an AW though.

I remember seeing someone de-bond an AW or AT and put it in a traditional stock, but for the life of me I can’t remember what gunsmith did it. I do remember there was never a follow-up on it though, so maybe it didn’t go well or it wouldn’t shoot well after being bedded in a stock.

Aint the AW and AT action the same? Correct if wrong.

And yes, ive seen both the MPA and im almost sure that the first one that modded an AT was with a manners stock.

The AT has a QD barrel and a much taller pic rail. Not sure if there are any other differences, I've never shot one.

I love the AW, but sometimes get tired of the blocky chassis feel. I'd like to inlet that fucker into a M40A1 type stock, not sure how the whole bottom metal thing would work out since the AW's trigger guard is basically part of the stock skins.

A McMillan or Manners Composite can be intetted for anything including all the Acc. Intl. actions if they wanted to write the inlet macros.

The big question to anyone planning such a project is finding a bottom metal that has a compatible bolt hole spacing. It would also have to put the magazine well and trigger clearance geometries at the correct point in space for everything to work.

I am not sure but would be very surprised if anything on the Acc Intl receivers are Rem700 like.

Terry would this be a project you would consider doing in one of your kmw stocks? I would definitely bring you an AW or AT if you would.

Thanks for asking but I would be thinking none of the DBM patterns are going to work. Some of the shops that do a ton of Acc Intl rifles (I don't) could likely answer that for sure.

If it used a standard R700 bolt pattern and associated mag well/tgigger clearance spatial relations, it would be fairly straight forward to do in a SENTINEL stock. If it doesn't share those points, I would not be able to tackle a "one of". You could certainly find a home for the project if it took a totally custom bottom metal but you had better have your wallet ready.
