I was at a Gunshop while traveling out of town and stumled upon this factory Lapua ammo. Came 20/box. Counldn't find any info on the net about this particular ammo. The shop had two boxes and I purchased both. Gun shop said they have had it in stock since mid 90's (notice oxidation)...........just curious to find out more info.

I feel like I have seen images of this before but thats not certain nor much help for you. Now thats old stock. Good buy PG

Re: Anyone every seen this ammo before?

That is pretty cool.
Does it have the standard L h/s(headstamp)? Any picture of that?

I actually have a small, humble ammo collection (30mm-22LR) and find these actually pretty cool...considering I do not have one in my collection.

These have the Mira projectile(designed from the Mega bullet), which is the first soft point round in the 338 LM cartridge when they introduced it to the market.

The HPBT type Scenar came later on, and probably what gave it is fame and rep.

So you could say these are some of the very first rounds to hit the market as the Lapua Mag.:)

Outside of that I would not have specific info to what kind of powder or primers were used..

I've used that ammo in my first 338 LM. I think I paid $55/box for it.
