i have a shaw on my 16" gun. it shoots lights out. i've been very happy with the barrel.

What weight is it? I was thinking of building a 16 incher with a heavy barrel.

I have an ER Shaw barrel in the 16" flavor... I built it cheaply and must say, it is a little laser beam. Very nice shooting barrel. How long will it last? I have yet to see. It's not one of my "go to" guns, but when I do use it, it is tight with anything from 55 grain up to 69.
My 16" is the heavy barrel with the target crown. It's on a DPMS Upper and Lower, Geissele SSA trigger, A2 stock, Young NM BCG and a Bushnell Elite MILDOT / 1/4 MOA glass.

Yeah, we worked up some loads for a Shaw 24" SS bull 8 twist this past sunday. Was surprised at how well it shot given some of the reviews I've read. My buddy got it from Model 1 sales as a complete upper for around $560.

I've seen the reviews as well. It makes me wonder, based on our results, if some of the negative reviewers really took the time to work up a load for the barrel or just slopped some cheap stuff at a cardboard box over the hood of a truck. Sunday I watched a guy try to sight in his Rem. 700 in .308 with just elbows on a concrete bench. OUCH! He had it ready for hippo hunting by the time he ran out of ammo. Give the Sierra 60 grain flat based hollow points a try.

I have had a Shaw 20" from model1 on my ar for almost a year now and it is a tack driver.
