This is my platform for my sporter project. 1933 Tula Hex 91/30 Bore is nice and shiney.

I would love to see some of your groups with similar 91/30's. I want to be sure I'm not wasting time/money with this particular variant

I'm only hoping to make this a hunting rifle with some character. Max range maybe 300yds and if it shoots, I'll stretch it further.

Thanks!

I own/have owned dozens. It already is a hunting rifle with some character...and a collectable one at that. Just leave it alone.

(Edit: I apologize for being short. Obviously, I lean more towards the purist side of things and my opinions will reflect that. When you're on a "Vintage Sniper Rifle" forum, I guess it could be expected to see some opposition to a project that's not related to the topic at hand. However, it is your rifle to do what you want with. What I would suggest, is that you first do some research on them. Not just the history, but some of their quirks and what makes them shoot best. Then, get it out and shoot it for a few days to get the feel for it. Not all of them are equal, as they've seen varying degrees of use and/or neglect. So, it's really impossible for anyone to say how your rifle is going to perform. After you've done that, you may just decide that you like it for what it is and the way it is. In my experience, they're accurate, robust rifles. The rich history that goes along with them is just an added bonus.)

Each MN will shoot and group differently. They range in bore size from .308 (Finn) and .315. I have a 36 Tula ex-sniper that is a legit 2 moa rifle (slugged at .312). So I purchased another 36 Tula, hoping it would it would be similar, slugged it and it is .315. With a loose bore like that, factory surplus is not so good, but I reload, so I shoot cast bullets through it. Slug your bore before you start your project.
