Toying w. the idea of bldg. an adjustable wood tripod 'rest w.o. windage. I saw one the other day & it rcvd favorable replies & I must say he did a good job w. it, but it looked lightweight. Well, I figure I can whip that problem & still have the thing be a "looker". It'd be basic & simple, but for my needs that oughta work. Anyone have any ideas or pics they could share on this project? My biggest concern right now is if the metal threaded inserts I could get about anywhere would have play btwn them & their bolts. If so, the thing would be worthless (unless someone sells bolts & threaded inserts w. very little play) as it would move around rather than be steady. It's either have some fun building this guy, or spend the $ on a Hart or Sinclair. Yeah, I know, I could always just use bags or go w. a Caldwell, but I prbly wouldn't do it. I've just read too many posts saying a tripod is better than bags alone and I have some issues w. Caldwell. Thanx.
