Anyone have info on Blawkhawk Cheek Pads

I am trying to find a check pad for my Sako Trg 42. I have seen the Tac Ops, and Eagle. Just concerned with it fitting to the stock of the sako. Also looks like the blackhawk has a larger pad in place than the others. I am shooting nightforce ultra high rings, so I need a pretty good amount of cheek rise. Thanks for any comments.

Buy a TacOps, they are built better, a lot nicer, the same price, and are made in the USA. They will run you about $35 or so, i have one on my pss and i love it.

True dat! lol I had a blackhawk and it is crap compared to the Tac Ops my friend has, I sold my b-hawk and when my rifle comes in, if i still need a cheek piece I will get a Tac Ops

sigh......

I personally like the blackhawk, because I prefer the BH's material to the suedy stuff others use.

KF-here's a litle snippet on the TacOps that may play into your cjhoice as well:
<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Originally Posted By: Brownell's</div><div class="ubbcode-body"> Tac Ops pad offers a soft, synthetic suede cheek rest for increased shooting comfort <span style="font-weight: bold">with minimal increase in comb height</span>. </div></div>

If you like the suedy stuff, I'd recommend Eagle. Any way you go, be prepared to make up some risers under the pad to get the height "just right".

and you and Paulus should fill out your profiles......

Re: Anyone have info on Blawkhawk Cheek Pads

I put a blackhawk pad on my M1A stock. No matter how tight I pulled the strings it would still move on me a little bit.

I went to Lowes and got a pack of that velcro with the peel off sticky backs. I put two of the smooth patches on each side of the stock up high (in case I took it off and shot the iron sights I wanted the soft side on my "tender" cheek) and glued the rough side of the patches on the inside of the cheek pad. Worked well enough to lock that cheekpad in place that we did it again on another rifle.

I really like the suede stuff. feels nice when i put cheek to rifle. its stable, has never moved on me at all, big enough bag, plenty of loops for ammo, well made. i really like it. the comb height on it is just right. i use a Badger Ordnance +20MOA 1pc picatinny with medium height Badger Ordnance Maximized rings and the cheek pad gives me a perfect cheek weld and sight picture every time. i am really happy with it so far, and would definitely recommend it.

Played with a BH at the LGS. Felt cheaply made to me. Plus I don't think the drawstring system would ever hold as well as velcro straps. Got a new TacOps off another forum and it is definitely built way better than the BH.

Plus as was said, the suede feels real nice. Especially if you have a beard.
