Ok all you gunsmiths, I have some questions about a glock 21. I'm a die hard 1911 guy but I'm thinking bout getting a glock 21 to shoot some 3 gun competitions with. I'm getting my 1911 dirty and im shooting in all kinds of weather so I'm thinking bout just going the glock route for my comps. My question is this. What all can I do to a glock 21 to make it as accurate as my 1911's and what changes or adjustments need to be made to the stock gun? Since I have only shot a glock a few times i'm really not sure. Any info would be appreciated.

Re: anyone here a glock armorer?

glocks are plenty accurate as is, i would get a trigger job, stippling, adjustable sights if your into them. and shoot it till your hands bleed.
i would recommend the springfield, XDM for 3 gun its what i switched too. you can get 24 +1 rnds of 9mm and still not go over teh 140mm OAL for limited, i stippled mine myself and am getting a mag well for it. trigger is good but getting a springer job later.

are you dead set on .45 for three gun? mag cap sucks.

Re: anyone here a glock armorer?

Lightning trigger assembly with #3.5 disconnector, rigid stainless steel recoil rod with stainless steel spring, competition barrel, compensated, ghost ring competition sight, beveled mag guide, extended mag release and extended slide release for quick reloads, copper lubricant for slide, competition thumb rest for recoil control.

Those are the things that I did to mine. All work done by me. Glock ROCKS!!

With a Glock you will never get a 1911 trigger, but put in a competition spring kit, Ghost Rocket 3.5 connector, Novak sights, and have Robar work over the grips for a higher grip and better feel. Glock barrels shoot great but you can fit up a match barrel if desired. It will never be a 1911, but a great gun no doubt!

Re: anyone here a glock armorer?

3.5 disconnector, Glockworx spring kit, and a .25cent trigger job will yield a nice 3lb trigger pull, stock Glock sights suck, and I recommend you not stipple it, kills the resale, I would look hard at a G34 or G35 the longer sight radius helps a lot.

Re: anyone here a glock armorer?

I carry a glock 20 as a duty gun (same frame as 21) I also have a 1911 officers for off-duty/personal carry. Make sure your comfortable with the 21 grip size. It feels like holding onto a 2x4 after a 1911. My brother has the .45 XD which I think has much better ergonomics than the Glock.

Re: anyone here a glock armorer?

The only gunsmith you need for a Glock is the guy you see in the mirror, I have a nice DVD that will show you everything you need to know, also 3 gun is not very popular around here.

Re: anyone here a glock armorer?

It all depends on what division you want to run in 3 gun.

Personally I shoot production class which has its own set of rules. Cant have gun or mags any further forward than your hip bones, gun has to be so close to your body and various other things .... and the BIGGEST one is that you can not have any more than 10 rounds in a magazine after the buzzer goes off.

My question is this-how much time and ammo in retraining do you have to shoot the Glock as well as you shoot your 1911? They are both great in the hands of those that use them, but very few shooters can swap back and forth between the two-most either shoot one or the other well and train to be competent with the one they don't.

Re: anyone here a glock armorer?

I've made enough colorful negative statements about Glock so I'll dispense with that.

But honestly, They're a decent combat handgun but I simply can't shoot as well with a Glock as I can with a good ol' accurized 1911. I think if you shoot one well, you won't shoot the other well. My hat's off to anyone who handles both with equal proficiency. Not sayin' you're not out there. You're just rare.
