I am in usability and user experience (wrote a book, speak internationally, etc). I have to to point out that 97% of the marketing research I see should not be, but you need usability, ethnography, or other methods.

I have also worked for marketing firms, so tell me what it is, roughly, and I'll say if I agree with the premise, or offer my suggestion how to best do this. And while I'll happily take your money, it may be easy to do super cheaply by yourself once you have the right methodology in place.
