While looking for scopes at MidwayUSA I came accross this. Anyone know anything about it? Midway says it is expected 11/30/2009. I don't see it on Sightron's website.

Re: Anyone know about a Sightron SII16X "Coming Soon"

A fixed 16x from Sightron ? Sounds interesting, just bought a 6-24x50 from liberty optics last week.I would think the market for a 16x is pretty small, although the quality from Sightron is high considering the price

Re: Anyone know about a Sightron SII16X "Coming Soon"

There is also a 20X listed and the same price. I'm hoping Sightron does something more aggressive with the knobs than the current set on the mil-dots.

I also think the verbiage of rear focus in odd, as normally it would be 'side focus'.

Re: Anyone know about a Sightron SII16X "Coming Soon"

Sounds like they are starting to take a few steps in the tactical direction. Im surprised they didnt have a 10x along with the other 2. I just recieved my 6-24x50 SIII about 3weeks ago and couldnt be happier. Mil/mil will be nice.

Ok, called Sightron. Nice bunch of folks to talk to, I was surprised how forth coming they were with information.

They are releaseing a 10X 16X and 20X currently looks like they will ship end of December, they have not released an image yet as they are getting the photos for the catalog & web completed now.

It will be a mildot reticle with hash marks at the half mil. It will have exposed tactical turrets in 1/4 MOA.

I failed to ask if they were illuminated but it wasn't mentioned so likely not.

At $550 with SIII glass quality I'm down for a 10X and a 16X.

Still clueless in Youngsville, NC (US Corporate HQ for Sightron). Wonder if any of those guys used to work for Leupold?

Sightron's SIII line has some of the best glass, at great prices, w/accurate tactile adjustments, and a marketing creed that says: "If it was good enough in 1999, it's good enough for 2009".

I mean if you are going to put a reticle in a tactical scope that can be used for ranging, why not put in adjustments that work the same damn way? At least if they insist on MOA only adjustments, maybe Sightron could invent a reticle called MOA-DOT. Design it with 3-4 MOA between the dots, so at least the MOA troops would have something in the under $1K class to buy.

Color me unenthusiastic........YMMV,

Bob

Re: Anyone know about a Sightron SII16X "Coming Soon"

I agree Bob. Ive said it before I love my SIII but when developing new scopes they need to consider what people are wanting or more so what the scope needs. Sightron has some of the best quality glass out there but they need to at least match the turrets adjustments to the rectile for ease of use. When they decide to get with the program I will definitely be inline for another. Using Loopies and Sightron in the same sentence is disgrace. Sightron is beyond Loopie IMHO.

Re: Anyone know about a Sightron SII16X "Coming Soon"

I just emailed Sightron to ask about future developements for matching rectile to the turrets. I guess Ill see what kind of response Ill get. Ill keep you guys posted.

Re: Anyone know about a Sightron SII16X "Coming Soon"

I will say that the fellow I spoke with seemed somewhat receptive to user feedback. He said they would listen to what people want in the scope and incorporate those changes.

The 6-24 is an example, I have the older version wotj 50MOA of adjustment, the current version has 100 MOA and the change was the result of user feeback. They said it was the same glass etc.. just the size of the internal tube was reduced to permit further travel.

My guess is the average hunter who now wants a tactical oriented scope is more comfortable with MOA adjustments and they are building the scope to hit the broadest audience possible.

I am driving up to Sightron in this week, just for the hell of it

Re: Anyone know about a Sightron SII16X "Coming Soon"

jiwilliams,

I e-mailed Sightron about 6 months ago, wanting to visit their shop in Youngsville, since it is only 20 miles from my house, and see their scope lines.

Here's what they said:

"Sorry for the late reply but we do not have showroom available at this location.

Regards

Alan"

I tried, but they did send me a nice catalog....

I had to work, and I have not had a chance to get out there. I will this month.

Re: Anyone know about a Sightron SII16X "Coming Soon"

I finally got an email reply from Sightron. The email I sent basically asked them when they were goin to develop a moa/moa or mil/mil with matching rectile and

This was there response.

"Brad, They are in the works but I don't have a time frame yet. Alan"

So my email was like a page long but I got the short answer unfortunately.
