Anyone know how to fix this bolt?

So this is the bolt to a Savage Model 10 that's about 2 or 3 years old. Anyway, the issue is that the round piece that you see in the pictures when moved to one side pushes the firing pin out of the gun. Normally if the bolt is in the gun you turn the bolt and it will turn the round piece back the opposite way and push the firing pin back in. However, since it's out of the gun I can't do that. The firing pin is still out and I can't get the round piece to move in the other direction at all by pushing on it with my hands. Anyone know how to do this? I of course can't put it back in the gun since the round piece is not in the right spot. The bolt won't fit in like this. Any help on how to reset the firing pin on this bolt so I can put it back in the gun would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Here are the pictures.

First of all, that bolt looks abit suspicious

I dont think you are shooting enough, that bolt doesn't look worn properly to be 2 to 3 years old.

But really, all you need to do is pull the "round thing" back as you twist it to fit in the groove it is supposed to be resting in. I do it by hooking it over the edge of an old table or something firm but wont damage the parts, you pull and twist till it seats back in the groove

If you cant do what coldboremiracle said just unscrew the big screw on the read and reposition it, whial you are there clean the bolt body , spring , and fireing pin.

Thanks, got it back like it should be. As for the bolt, it's one of those things where a friends girlfriend bought it for him new about 2.5 years ago to hunt with. He claims he put 2 boxes of shells through it. I know him pretty well, and I know he didn't have much extra money so I doubt he shot this very much at all, but you know how everyone says 2 boxes of shells. I figure maybe 100 rounds or so at most realistically. He ended up selling it and I picked it up for a great price. Turns out it's the most accurate rifle I've ever shot. I've only put maybe 150 rounds through it. So maybe 250 rounds total. It's a fun rifle to shoot. I just need to get some better glass to top it off. It has a cheapo Simmons scope that it had back when I got it. It holds zero and shoots .5 MOA groups and is surprisingly clear. So I can't complain too much. I really want a variable power Super Sniper, but want it in something more than a 3-9. Since I read that a 5-25x is in the works I'm trying to convince myself that the Simmons is good enough to use until the new SS comes out. So far I haven't upgraded, but I've wanted to a few times. I just really am trying to hold out for the SS in a higher power variable power scope.

one way that you can make it easier, is to unscrew the Bolt Assembly Screw almost all the way, then recock it and tighten the screw again. ive hooked it over the edge of something and had it slip, so be careful. its called a cocking piece pin
