Hello,

I like the way the barrel nut works on the proof switch gun. Anyone know who makes it? I'm hoping its not proof because they probably wouldn't want to sell it separately since they're trying to sell a complete rifle.

The plan is to build a clone using a TL3 action and a Manners PRS stock. The barrel nut options in my opinion aren't that pretty (maybe the invisinut by BH, but it requires a 300$ torque wrench) so I'm looking for options.

Thanks!
Michal

If proof wont sell you one then the bighorn has an option. Its not identical, but the bighorn invisi nut is pretty darn close, 40 bucks. The proof tapers down further out, this bighorn nut starts closer to the action.

That said you need to use a wrench to tighten it down somehow and the bighorn invisi wrench is a it pricey at 235. Maybe a strap wrench could get it done cheaper, idk.

The DLC option adds 15 bucks to each

Maybe a chain tong, I don't think you will find a strap wrench that could torque a barrel nut. A chain tong would shred it.

Savage has a wrench for their smooth barrel nut as well. The wrench on the bottom is for it. That would not be too hard to make if you had a couple tools and measurements.

I use the bighorn invisnuts, i like them. If you can fab up a good clamping wrench you could probably skip their torque wrench.

I emailed them, they're usually pretty good about writing back quickly.

I recently discovered the ARC Barloc and it looks interesting. The rail off the TL3 requires some machining to make it work so thats an option as well. There are so many options too, something is pulling me toward trying out the ARC Nucleus with the barloc as well, looks neat only thing I don't like is the reports of light primer strikes.

The PVA one looks neat and clean as well.

Loving my Nukes and Barloc. No problem at all for me with either of the two I have. My buddy who had lite strikes cleaned his bolt and switched triggers and has been running perfect since. Barloc is super simple. However, I am like corndogs and got over how my rifle looks. I just like to poke holes in stuff.

If I didn't have extra Savage nuts lying around, I would use PVA's barrel nut. The flats are all I'd need and want.
