Anyone here get to mess with the new 1-8 v cog yet? Was about to order a nx8 for my scar 17 and seen they announced the new v cog at the nra meeting. Would love to know how they compare.
Thanks!

I played with it at the show for a minute. It may have been how it was mounted on their demo gun, but it felt really challenging to get a good picture at 8x.

I prefer the bright center dot approach over the big segmented circle approach to a reticle.

Since it wasn't set up for me and only in a convention hall, I'll reserve any actual decision about it until I see one in the real world.

I had the opposite experience at the NRA Convention. At 1x and 8x, I felt it was the easiest and clearest 1-8x optic I looked through during the show. Better than the S&B short dot dual, ATACR and the new Steiner 1-8x (which was the worst I looked through). The eyebox on the new vcog 1-8x was the largest, and I actually like the combo segmented circle/reticle. It looked fast on 1x like my Kahles SM1. 8x looking 50-100 yards from the Trijicon booth down the other ends of the convention hall, I felt it was close to my Kahles. It also had little if any distortion on 1x unlike many 1-8x and 1-6x scopes.

The only negative I had was the lack of external turrets. The ATACR is better in that regard. I guess there are also people who had bad experiences with the 1-6x VCOG, but I do like the idea of an optic that doesn’t require rings. It is a military optic after all.
